Steven Gerard Donnelly (born September 7, 1988 in Ballymena , Northern Ireland ) is an Irish boxer .

Career

He is also a bronze medalist in the welterweight division of the Chemical Cup 2014 in Germany and the Commonwealth Games 2014 in Scotland , as well as a bronze medalist in the middleweight division of the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Australia.

In the 2015/16 season, Donnelly fought for the Poland Hussars in the World Series of Boxing . He contested nine fights with six wins and finished fourth at the end of the season. Since first-placed Mohammed Rabii qualified via the 2015 World Championships and runners-up Rajab Butayev could not qualify because another Russian boxer was already qualified in the welterweight division, this placement was sufficient for Donnelly to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games . At the Olympics he defeated Zohir Kedache and Bjambyn Tüwschinbat in the preliminary rounds before he was eliminated in the quarterfinals with 1: 2 on points against Mohammed Rabii.
