Steven Rashad Jackson (* 22. July 1983 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of running backs in the National Football League (NFL). He played most of his active NFL playing career with the St. Louis Rams , of which he was selected in the first round in the 2004 NFL Draft . He also played for the  Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots .

Early years

Steven Jackson attended high school in his native Las Vegas , Nevada . Here he already played American football in the running back position . He later went to Oregon State University , where he ran for the college football team 3,625 yards in 743 attempts over three seasons (an average of 4.9 yards per attempt). He scored 39 run touchdowns and six touchdowns after passes , as well as one touchdown by a kickoff return . In his third year of college alone, he caught passports or, in summary, ran 2,015 yards, which is a record for this college that is still valid today. He suffered a knee injury in his senior year of college.

NFL

St. Louis Rams

Jackson was selected by the St. Louis Rams as the 24th player in the first round of the NFL Draft . He signed a five-year contract with the Rams. In his first season he was still intended as a backup running back behind Marshall Faulk , which is why he “only” ran 673 yards in 134 attempts and four touchdowns. He also received 19 passes for 189 yards. In the 2005 season he was named the first running back in front of Marshall Faulk. Jackson ran 1,046 yards in 254 tries, scoring 8 touchdowns. He also caught 43 passes for 32 yards and two touchdowns. In 2006, Jackson had his breakout season. He ran 1,528 yards with the ball on 346 attempts, scoring 13 touchdowns. He received 90 passes for 806 yards and three touchdowns. That season he was nominated for the Pro Bowl for the first time . In 2008 he signed a better-paid six-year contract with the Rams, making him the highest-paid running back in the NFL at the time. In 2009 and 2010 he took part in the Pro Bowl two more times. From 2005 to 2011, he reached more than 1,000 yards per season for the Rams for eight seasons in a row. In the 2012 season , he became the 27th running back in NFL history to run more than 10,000 yards.

Atlanta Falcons

On March 14, 2013 Jackson signed a three-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons . In his first season he missed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time since his first season with 543 yards. In his second season with the Falcons, he only managed 707 yards. As a consequence, the Falcons released him on February 26, 2015.

New England Patriots

Steven Jackson signed with the New England Patriots on December 21, 2015 . On January 3, 2016, he scored his first touchdown for the Patriots in a 20-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins . He reached the AFC final with the Patriots , which was lost to the eventual Super Bowl 50 winner Denver Broncos with 20-18. Jackson also managed a touchdown in the game.
