Stewart star
Stewart Henry Stern (born March 22, 1922 in New York City , † February 2, 2015 in Seattle ) was an American screenwriter . He was nominated twice for Oscar and won an Emmy . He wrote his most famous script for the film ... because they don't know what they are doing with James Dean .
Works
Besides ... because they don't know what they're doing , Stern's most outstanding works were the screenplay for the television film Sybil , which won Emmy awards for both Stern and actress Sally Field ; Indictment: Treason with Paul Newman ; The James Dean Story (Director: Robert Altman ); The Outsider with Tony Curtis ; The Ugly American with Marlon Brando ; A Summer's Love with Joanne Woodward ; and The Last Movie (Director: Dennis Hopper ). He is also the author of the book No Tricks in My Pocket: Paul Newman Directs (1989) .
Life
Stern is a nephew of Adolph Zukor , the founder of Paramount Pictures . As a soldier he took part in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II . It is the subject of the documentary Going Through Splat: The Life and Work of Stewart Stern (2005). Stern was married to the dancer Marilee Stiles and died of cancer at the age of 92.
