Stoffen is a district of the municipality of Pürgen in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech .

geography

The parish village of Stoffen is about three kilometers southwest of Pürgen on the high terrace of the Lech .

history

Several row graves from the 7th / 8th centuries Century as well as a nearby castle stables suggest an early medieval first settlement.

Stoffen was first mentioned in a document in 1030 in connection with the lords of Stoffen who lived here, from whom the current place name is derived. The Lords of Stoffen owned, among other things, the Bailiwick of Wessobrunn Monastery and were among the main vassals of the Guelphs .

Their possessions later fell to the Lords of Pflugdorf and Hunthammer, most recently to the Munich patrician Pütrich family . After their extinction in 1597, the parish fell to the Bavarian dukes, who gave it to the Andechs monastery as early as 1605.

Around 1700, the St. Ulrich monasteries in Augsburg , Rottenbuch , Wessobrunn and Andechs were wealthy in fabrics .

As part of the municipal edicts, the municipality of Stoffen was established in the Landsberg district court in 1818 .

Stoffen was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into Pürgen on July 1, 1972.
