The Weser Renaissance Route is a holiday route in northern Germany . As a cultural route, it connects important architectural monuments of the Weser Renaissance from the 16th and early 17th centuries. The road runs through the federal states of Hesse , North Rhine-Westphalia , Lower Saxony and Bremen .

The Weser Renaissance Road leads to palaces and aristocratic residences, town halls and town houses made of stone or half-timbered houses, which bear witness to the economic and cultural boom in the century before the Thirty Years War (1618–1648).

Along the road between Hann. Münden and Bremen there are numerous Renaissance buildings that cannot be found anywhere else in Germany in this density. The term Weser Renaissance is misleading because it is not an independent regional expression of the Renaissance . In fact, the Renaissance buildings in the Weser area testify to the European connections that already existed at that time. They made it possible for the forms and ideas of the Renaissance to spread from Italy to the countries north of the Alps.

The castles Hämelschenburg , Bückeburg , Detmold , Brake , Neuhaus , Bevern , Stadthagen , Celle and Hann should be highlighted among the numerous sights . Münden . Town halls such as those in Bremen , Nienburg , Rinteln , Stadthagen , Paderborn or Hann. Münden also gives an impression of the splendor of the era, as do the magnificent town houses in Minden , Lemgo and Hameln and the richly carved half-timbered facades, especially in Einbeck , Höxter , Brakel and Bad Salzuflen . The heptagonal princely mausoleum in Stadthagen , which is reminiscent of the Florentine Renaissance, is of outstanding art-historical importance . The Weser Renaissance Museum in Brake provides information about the art and cultural landscape of the Weser region.
