The jet head ( Vorarlbergerisch : Strohlkopf ) is a 1366  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Bregenz Forest Mountains , which is located in the municipality of Hohenems . The top of the mountain is easily accessible on foot.

Geology, fossils

The jet head consists essentially of light-colored (radiant) limestone ( Helvetikum ) and has a clearly visible, steep demolition that rises about 50 m. The rock is unstable and generally not suitable for climbing .

The fossilization of an incomplete specimen of a "highly oval type" of an ammonite , Ammonit Pictetia pr., Which is kept at the University of Zurich , was found in the jet head .

location

The Strahlkopf is about 200 m as the crow flies north of the Emser Hut ( 1283  m ) and about 300 m from the municipal boundary of Dornbirn . The jet head is about 3 km as the crow flies from the center of Hohenems.
