The Streufelsberg is 739.8  m above sea level. NHN is the highest and most northerly mountain in the Ostabfall natural area of the Long Rhön . It is located away from the rest of the mountains of the Eastern Fall. Elevations of the Langen Rhön and the Rhönkopf lie on the straight line between them.

The Streufelsberg is located 2.0 km southwest of Reichenhausen (zu Erbenhausen ), 2.4 km west-southwest of Erbenhausen, 3.0 km northwest of Melpers , 3.9 km north-northeast of Leubach (zu Fladungen ), 4.2 km northeast of Frankenheim and 4.1 km southeast of Oberweid .

Natural allocation

The Streufelsberg belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Osthessisches Bergland (No. 35), in the main unit Hohe Rhön (354) and in the subunit Central Rhön (354.1) to the natural area Ostabfall der Langen Rhön (354.12).

Protected areas

Parts of the Thuringian Rhön landscape protection area and the Rhönkopf-Streufelsberg nature reserve are located on the Streufelsberg.

Others

The Streu , an orographically right tributary of the Franconian Saale, rises between the Rhönkopf and Streufelsberg .
