particularities | unmistakable mountain figure |
The Sturpen is a striking summit of the Geigenkamm seen from the Pitztal . Its northern flank is formed by regular rows of slabs, which give this mountain its unmistakable appearance. The mountain has a height of 2,718 m and lies above Trenkwald in the Pitztal. It forms the extension of the southwest ridge of the Hundstalkogel . The summit has a summit cross , which, however, was damaged several times by lightning strikes or the weather and had to be replaced.
Routes
The mountain is relatively easy to reach from Trenkwald, regardless of the difficult-looking slab lines and the steep southwest face (alpine experience required). However, the ascent from Moalandlsee is more difficult.
- Normal route : From Trenkwald to the Hundsbachalm . From there, no path northwards over steep crags into the saddle east of the summit. From there slightly south below the ridge to the surprisingly extensive summit plateau.
- From the Moalandlsee (there in a good three hours from Piösmes in the Pitztal) down into the cirque below the Sturpen. Up to the notch and to the summit.
