The Barons of Styrcea (Styrczea) , Romanian: Stîrcea also Stârcea , come from a very old boyar family from the Principality of Moldova and are an Austrian and later also an English noble family .

history

It is documented that the descendant of the Cuman leader Tebuc, Pan Iurașco Tăbuci, who is related to the Mushatenes, received the Boian estate from Prince Alexandru cel Bun (German: Alexander the Good) in 1411. The grand boyar Dragomir Stârcea (also known as Tăbuci Stîrce ), son of the military leader Drăgoi, who was documented on April 22, 1428 , is considered to be the progenitor of the family.

The great-grandchildren of Iurașco fulfilled high functions under the prince Ștefăniță and his successor Petru Rareş . So Ion (Ioan) were between 1515 and 1528 the great stewardess (mare stolnic) 1528 castle captain (pârcălab) of Hotin and his brother Mihul castle captain of Cetatea de Baltă. In 1720 the Grand Chancellor (mare voric) Miron distributed his goods to his 14 children. One of the sons founded the line of the later Knights of Strischka (Strâşca, Strîşca). In 1774, Prince Grigore IV finally appointed Ghica Toader Stîrcea as court chancellor (voric de poartă).

When the nobility was legitimized on the basis of the Austrian nobility patent, the members of the family living in Bukowina, the brothers Georg, Theodor and Stephan Stîrcze, their sister Ilinca and their cousins ​​Stefan and Serban, were knighted in 1789.

Emanuel (Emanoil) Ritter von Styrczea (1800-1896) and his descendants were elevated to the baron status by the highest resolution of March 2, 1880 (see below).
