The smeared boletus relatives (Suillaceae) are a family from the order of the thick boletus-like with 58 species worldwide.

features

Like many tube mushrooms, the stalk relatives have fruiting bodies with tubes on the underside of the hat, divided into a hat and stem . The genus Truncocolumella forms truffle-like fruiting bodies. They differ from the family of thick boletus relatives in the presence of special pigments such as prenylated phenols and quinones such as cavipetin, suillin and boviquinone. The spores are pigmented, smooth, elliptical to spindle-shaped.

ecology

The brawn relatives are consistently mycorrhizal fungi exclusively with conifers , which also distinguishes them from the thick brawn relatives.

Systematics

The Schmierröhrlingsverwandten included long to Dickröhrlingsverwandten (Boletaceae) within the Dickröhrlingsartigen (Boletales). But Besl and Bresinsky detected due to chemical ingredients and pigments that they more closely with the Schmierling relatives (Gomphidiaceae) and the root truffle relatives are related (Rhizopogonaceae), although the former and the latter have fins underground fruiting bodies . They put all 3 families in their own suborder Suillineae within the thick tubule relatives.

Genera

Several formerly independent genera are incorporated into the genus Suillus according to molecular biological studies, including the hollow foot boletus ( Boletinus ), Gastrosuillus and Fuscoboletinus .
