Sulakyurt is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Kırıkkale . The city is located about 40 kilometers north of the provincial capital Kırıkkale . The city is connected by country roads with Balışeyh in the south and Kızılırmak in the north.

The district, founded in 1960, is located in the north of the province. It borders in the southeast on the Delice district , in the south on Balışeyh and the central district and in the west and north on the provinces of Ankara and Çankırı . The district is located in the Karagüney Dağı Mountains , west of the main town is the 1,255 meter high Yığlıtaşbeli Tepesi . In the northwest and north, the Kızılırmak River forms the border. The district consists of the district town ( Merkez ) and 26 villages. The average population of these villages is 221, the largest being Hamzali with 717 inhabitants.
