Sülfija Sabirowa ( Kazakh Зүльфия Забирова , Russian Зульфия Хасановна Забирова , zulfiya zabirova * 19th December 1973 in Tashkent , Uzbek SSR ) is a Tournament Director in cycling and a former Kazakh cyclist .

Sülfija Sabirowa emigrated from her home country Uzbekistan to Russia in 1993 and from then on competed for Russia as an athlete. In 2005, she accepted Kazakh citizenship.

At the 1996 Summer Olympics , Sabirowa won gold in the individual time trial . In 2002 she became road cycling world champion . In 2002 and 2004 she won the International Women's Tour of Thuringia . In 2003 and 2004 she decided the km on the last 118 of the men classic Milan-San Remo discharged Primavera Rosa for themselves. In 2004 she also won the Tour of Flanders, which was held for the first time for women . It won the Chrono Champenois - Trophée Européen twice, in 1998 and 2002 . She was also the Kazakh champion in road racing four times and in the individual time trial.

After the birth of a child and the breakup of her last team, Bigla, Sabirova resigned from cycling in 2009. Since the beginning of the 2012 season, she has been in the sporting management of the Rusvelo women's cycling team . Sülfija Sabirowa lives in the canton of Ticino near Lugano in Switzerland. She is married and has one daughter.
