Pichai Sundararajan (born June 10, 1972 in Madurai , Tamil Nadu , India ) is an American manager of Indian origin . He is the CEO of Google LLC and its holding company Alphabet Inc.

Pichai was born in 1972 in the southern Indian city of Madurai . He grew up in poor conditions.

Sundar Pichai earned a bachelor's degree in metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur , a master's degree in materials science from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has been with Google since 2004, where he was initially responsible for the software products Google Chrome , Google Chrome OS and Google Drive . He later led the development of various products such as Gmail and Google Maps .

On November 19, 2009, Pichai presented the Chrome OS operating system . On May 20, 2010, he presented the open source video codec VP8 and the WebM video format , which were developed by Google.
