Sushi Girl is an American crime thriller from 2012. Directed by Kern Saxton.
action
Fish comes out of jail after six years, where a failed diamond robbery has brought him. Although he covered his accomplices during the questioning by the police, he was picked up at the prison gate and forced to meet them. Duke, the brutal head of the gang, invites everyone involved in the robbery to a dinner in order to find out the whereabouts of the lost prey. The other guests (the greasy Crow, the cocaine addicted Francis and the violent biker Max) hope for their share of the diamonds.
In the middle of the room, a sushi buffet is served on the body of a young, naked woman. They have to listen to the entire conversation. Since Fish had the prey last, the others decide to handcuff him to a chair and torture him.
In several retrospectives, it is told how the diamond heist failed due to a car accident. The driver of the car the gang collided with wanted to help the victims and was promptly shot by Duke. While the other members escaped on foot, Fish was caught. He lost the diamonds at the scene of the accident.
After cruel torture, Fish is ready to talk. During his explanation, Max loses his composure and kills Fish in affect. The group is blamed and the situation escalates. After a Mexican standoff , only Duke and the naked Sushi Girl are still alive.
The last piece of puffer fish sushi that covers the girl's vulva is fatal to humans if it is intentionally incorrectly cut. Duke ingests it and is slowly paralyzed by the fish's poison. Now he realizes that the sushi girl has planned everything. She was the passenger in the other accident vehicle and became helpless and unnoticed to witness the murder of her lover. After the gang fled, they discovered the diamonds and have been planning their revenge ever since.
She kills Duke with a headshot.
Trivia
- The film has many parallels to Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs . Both films are chamber plays in a single room and deal with the consequences of a failed robbery. Other parallels are the Mexican standoff at the end and a gang member's failed attempt to cooperate with the police.
- Danny Trejo has a cameo as the guardian of the attacked diamond dealer, which is played by Jeff Fahey . As an allusion to machete , he is also armed with a machete here. Fahey plays the opponent Trejos in machete.
- Sonny Chiba can be seen in a supporting role as a sushi chef.
Reviews
“Crime thriller based on Tarantino's style and structure with an excellent ensemble. Great: Mark Hamill as a crazy crazy Crow. "
"The only eye-catcher in this brutally dreary intimate play about a gang of gangsters fighting over the booty from a robbery is the naked title heroine who, as a human buffet, says nothing for 80 minutes before she takes up a gun."
