Susuz (formerly Cilavuz , Kurdish Cilawûz ) is a city and a district in the province of Kars in northeastern Turkey . The city is about 20 km north of the provincial capital Kars . It is on the D 965 ( E 691 ) trunk road , which crosses the district in a north-south direction.
The district of Susuz was created on April 1, 1959 and is located in the north of the province. It borders the central district ( Merkez ) Kars in the south, the Arpaçay district in the northeast, the Akyaka district in the east and the Ardahan province in the north and west. It also has a border with Armenia in the northeast .
At the end of 2018, in addition to the district town (2018: 22.8% of the district population), it consisted of 27 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 300 residents. Büyükçatak is the largest village with 765 inhabitants.
