Suzanne Winters (born Suzanne Grant on April 17, 1984 in Inverness , Scotland , United Kingdom ) is a Scottish former football player . For the Scottish national football team , she played internationally from 2000 to 2013. At club level she won both the Scottish and the English "domestic treble" .

Career

Suzanne started playing soccer during her school days and played for a boys' team when she was discovered for the Scottish national team. In 2004 she got a contract with Glasgow City LFC , where she played until 2006 and won the Scottish Championship in 2004/05 and the Scottish Cup in 2006. In the UEFA Women's Cup 2005/06 , however, the Scottish women failed in the first round, where they did not win a game. This was followed by an engagement at the capital club Hibernian LFC , where she won the Scottish “domestic treble” in 2006/07 and the cup victory again the following season. In 2009 he moved to the English capital to Arsenal Ladies FC . On her debut in the League Cup final, she immediately scored a goal after being substituted on. In addition, she won the FA Cup final with Arsenal and six days later the championship, which she secured by scoring 1-0 in a direct duel against Everton and thus also the English “domestic treble”. She also contributed to winning the London County Cup with two goals. She then moved back to Scotland and played for Celtic Glasgow , where she was temporarily loaned out, but won the Scottish Women's Premier League Cup in 2010. In July 2015, she signed a contract with Motherwell. In her first game for Motherwell, a 21-0 win over Edinburgh South, she scored 11 goals

In 2017, she announced her retirement due to a knee injury.

National team

Grant played for the Scottish U-17 team at the age of 14 and made her first appearance at the age of 16 in the Scottish national football team on November 29, 2000 in a 9-0 win against Northern Ireland and scored two goals.

In December 2011 she was one of the Scottish players who were considered for Team GB , who were to represent the United Kingdom at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . Ultimately, however, it was not taken into account.

For a European Championship or World Cup finals, she has not yet qualified with Scotland. In qualifying for the EM 2009 they failed in the playoffs to Russia and in the qualification for the EM 2013 in the playoffs with a last-minute goal to Spain .

On February 13, 2013, she came in the Scottish team's friendly against the USA to their 100th international match and scored the goal for the Scottish women in the 3-1 defeat. She played her last game on April 7, 2013 against Wales. Then she took a pregnancy break after which she was not nominated again and ended her career in 2017.

Private

Grant lived with former soccer player David Winters since 2003 . She became the mother of their first son in November 2013 and their second son in 2018. Her twin sister Shelley also played football for Glasgow City. In 2017, she and Winters married and she took her husband's name.
