The Sylt Outer Reef - Eastern German Bight is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the German exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf in the North Sea . The nature reserve is part of the coherent European ecological network Natura 2000 and combines the FFH area Sylt Outer Reef and the bird reserve Eastern German Bight .

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance on September 28, 2017. It has an area of ​​560,300 hectares and is located in the southern North Sea. The protected area includes the outer grounds in front of Sylt and Amrum and the moraine ridges of the north-eastern flanks of the Elbe glacial valley .

The recreational fishing is banned in many parts of the reserve. The Butendiek offshore wind farm is located within the nature reserve. The DanTysk offshore wind farm borders directly on the nature reserve in the north, and the Amrumbank West offshore wind farm in the south. Further wind parks in the immediate vicinity of the nature reserve are planned.

FFH area Sylt Outer Reef

The fauna-flora-habitat area Sylt outer reef is registered under the number 1209-301 and covers 531,429 hectares.
