Synagogue (Argenschwang)
The synagogue in Argenschwang , a local community in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate , was opened in the 17th and 18th centuries. Century erected. The secular synagogue at Brunnenstrasse 7 is a protected architectural monument .
history
The two-storey half - timbered house with rectangular windows was bought by the Jewish community in the 18th century in order to set up a synagogue after the building was expanded. The prayer room was on the upper floor. The women's area was separated by a privacy screen. The prayer room had a vaulted wooden ceiling that was painted with a starry sky.
The interior was probably devastated and damaged during the November pogrom in 1938 . In August 1939, a farmer bought the building, which in 1950 was returned to the Bad Kreuznach / Birkenfeld Jewish community, which later sold it.
In 1980 the outside of the building was repaired. The current owner has renovated the building in an exemplary manner over the past few years.
