Former synagogue in Blieskastel

The synagogue in Blieskastel , a town in the Saarpfalz district in Saarland , was set up in a residential building in 1826. The derelict synagogue has the address Am Luitpoldplatz 1. The building is a protected monument .

history

The semi-detached house was built around 1800 as an eaves, two-story plastered building. In 1826 the Jewish community of Blieskastel bought the house and set up a school and the teacher's apartment on the ground floor. The synagogue room was on the upper floor and the ritual bath was installed in the basement .

Services were held in the building until 1908 . In 1921 the house became the property of the town of Blieskastel. In the 1950s the building was sold to a private person and then converted into a residential building. A garage door was installed in the place of the window of the mikveh.
