Türnau is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Haugschlag in the Gmünd district in Lower Austria .

The village of Türnau also includes the Alttürnau houses east of Türnau.

history

The scattered settlement of Türnau was repopulated in the first half of the 18th century. Türnau is mentioned in the death registers from the 1730s. In a stately land register from the 16th century, Türnau is listed as a deserted village. From 1728 the newly founded huts of Türnau are mentioned in the land register. The place belonged to the lordship of Litschau.

Settlement development

In 1751 Türnau counted 9 subordinate houses.

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 34 building areas with 15,964 m² and 14 gardens on 4,035 m² in the cadastral community of Türnau, in 1989/1990 these 34 building areas continued to exist. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 104 and in 2009/2010 there were 58 buildings on 96 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 125 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 56 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 110 hectares and 68 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 107 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 6,767 hectares. The average soil climate of Türnau is 16.7 (as of 2010).
