Tadeusz Rybak

Tadeusz Rybak (born November 7, 1929 in Milanówek , † March 7, 2017 in Legnica ) was a Polish clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Legnica (Liegnitz) .

Life

Tadeusz Rybak attended elementary school and high school in his hometown Milanówek and entered the seminary of the Archdiocese of Wroclaw after graduating in 1948 . The auxiliary bishop in Kielce , Franciszek Sonik , ordained him on August 2, 1953 . Four years he worked in the parish pastoral and began in 1957 to study theology at the Catholic University in Lublin , where he also 1962. Dr. theol. received his doctorate . From 1962 to 1977 he taught dogmatics at the seminary in Breslau, of which he was vice-rector. He was a member of the Commission for the Clergy, the Pastoral Council and the Liturgy Commission of the Archdiocese. In 1969 he was appointed papal honorary chaplain ( monsignor ).

Pope Paul VI appointed him on April 28, 1977 auxiliary bishop in Breslau and titular bishop of Benepota . The Archbishop of Breslau, Henryk Roman Gulbinowicz , donated him the episcopal ordination on June 24th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Władysław Miziołek , auxiliary bishop in Warsaw , and Józef Marek , auxiliary bishop in Wroclaw. His motto was: Per Christum in Spiritu ad Patrem “Through Christ in the Spirit to the Father”.

He was Vicar General of Archbishop Gulbinowicz, a member of the Metropolitan Chapter (1978) and Provost (1982). In the Polish Bishops' Conference he was chairman of the liturgy commission for the clergy and the lay apostolate.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 25, 1992 as the first bishop of the newly founded diocese of Liegnitz . On May 24, 1992, he was introduced to his diocese in the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul .

On March 19, 2005, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Since 2003 he was an honorary citizen of Legnica (Liegnitz).
