Tae Satoya ( Japanese里 谷 多 英, Satoya Tae ; born June 12, 1976 in Sapporo ) is a former Japanese freestyle skier . She started in the mogul disciplines, contained moguls and dual moguls.

Career

Satoya made his debut in Inawashiro in February 1992 in the World Cup and finished 16th in the Moguls. At the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in February 1994 , she came 11th. The following month she was in Laajavuori junior world champion in the Moguls. In January 1995 she reached in Blackcomb with tenth place in the Moguls, her first top ten placement in the World Cup. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in La Clusaz in 1995 , she finished 12th. After she won gold at the Junior World Championships in Mount Buller at the beginning of the 1995/96 season , she achieved five top ten placements, including third place in the Dual Moguls in Hundfjället , 16th place in the Moguls World Cup and eighth place in the Dual Moguls World Cup. In the following season she came in 14 World Cup starts, nine times in the top ten and thus finished 19th in the overall World Cup, ninth in the Dual Moguls World Cup and seventh in the Moguls World Cup. At the season highlight, the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in 1997 in Iizuna Kogen , she achieved 15th place. In the 1997/98 season, which she finished in tenth place in the Mughal World Cup, she won her first World Cup victory in the Mughal competition in Hundfjället. She had her greatest success at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . There she became Olympic champion in the Moguls.

In the 1998/99 season, Satoya won her second World Cup victory in the Moguls in Inawashiro. In addition, she came three more times in the top ten, including third place in Madarao and thus reached ninth place in the overall World Cup and fourth place in the Moguls World Cup. These were her best overall placements in the World Cup. In the following season she won 11th place in the Dual Moguls World Cup and eighth place in the Moguls World Cup and in the 2000/01 season, 11th place in the Moguls World Cup. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2001 in Whistler , she was tenth in the Moguls and seventh in the Dual Moguls. In the 2001/02 season she came in 12 World Cup participations, eight times in the top ten, including second place in the Moguls competition in Ruka and thus reached 12th place in the Dual Moguls World Cup, 11th place in the overall World Cup and seventh Place in the Mughal World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , she won the bronze medal in the Moguls. The following year she finished 14th in the Moguls and sixth in the Dual Moguls at the World Championships at the Deer Valley Resort . In the 2004/05 season she achieved second place in the Moguls in Inawashiro, her last podium finish in the World Cup and at the end of the season the 13th place in the Moguls World Cup.

In 2005, Satoya was arrested after a fight in a Tokyo nightclub that she allegedly started. This led to the fact that she lost sponsors and was temporarily banned from the national team. As a result, she was unable to repeat the good placements from the previous year in the World Cup in the following years. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she finished 15th in the Moguls. In March 2008, she became the Japanese Mogul Master in Sapporo . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2009 in Inawashiro she came ninth in the Moguls and fourth in the Dual Moguls and at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver on 19th place in the Moguls. At the Winter Asian Games 2011 in Almaty , she was fourth in the Moguls and in the Dual Moguls. She completed her last World Cup in February 2012 at the Naeba Ski Resort , which she finished 26th in the Moguls and 25th in the Dual-Moguls.
