Joseph Augustin Hagendorens CP (born April 15, 1894 in Mariekerke , Belgium , † April 20, 1976 ) was a Belgian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Tshumbe .

Life

Joseph Augustin Hagendorens joined the Congregation of the Passionists in and received on January 2, 1921, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On July 28, 1936, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the first Apostolic Prefect of Tshumbe.

On March 23, 1947, Joseph Augustin Hagendorens became the first Apostolic Vicar of Tshumbe and Pius XII as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture of Tshumbe to the Apostolic Vicariate . appointed him titular bishop of Caffa . The Bishop of Bruges , Henricus Lamiroy , ordained him episcopal on May 1st of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Lisala , François Van den Berghe CICM , and the Vicar Apostolic of Niangara , Robert Constant Lagae OP .

Joseph Augustin Hagendorens became the first bishop of Tshumbe on November 10, 1959 as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate Tshumbe to the diocese . On April 9, 1968, Pope Paul VI. the resignation put forward by Hagendorens and appointed him titular bishop of Sicca Veneria .

Hagendorens attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
