event

Every year, around 300 winners of nationwide school and youth competitions are  invited to Berlin by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research on Talents Day  . The supporting program of the three-day event consists of discussions, specialist lectures and interdisciplinary workshops. The focus is on contributions from the competitions presented by the award winners: from artistic performances and historical works to scientific experiments and technical inventions. This gives the young people the opportunity to exchange ideas with one another and to be inspired for future projects. At the end of the Day of Talents, the winners will be honored for their special achievements in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Objectives of the event

As part of the federal government's promotion of talented students, the Day of Talents “aims to draw attention to the diverse talents of young people. [...] Talents should be recognized and others should be encouraged through them to seek and develop their own talents ”. Another goal is to network the talents with one another. The event gives them insights into other subject areas such as humanities and natural sciences, culture, politics and economics.

Motto of the day of the talents

The event has a new motto every year, which sets the thematic focus for workshops, lectures and supporting program. For several years this has been based on the theme of the current Science Year , an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. For example, the 8th Day of Talents had the motto “We and now!” And was organized as an event within the 2013 Science Year “The Demographic Opportunity”.

In the science year 2014 "The digital society" was the motto of the event "Everything in contact". The motto of the 10th day of talents was “City. Country. Future. ”And referred to the 2015 Science Year“ City of the Future ”. In the science year 2016 * 2017 “Seas & Oceans” the motto at the Day of Talents 2016 is “Want the ocean” and in 2017 “Mission immersion”.
