Taggart Desmet (born May 29, 1982 in Strathmore , Alberta ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player .

Career

Taggart Desmet began his career as a hockey player in 2000 with the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League . Before the 2003/04 season he moved to the ice hockey team of Michigan Tech University in the NCAA , for which he stormed a total of three years. In the 2005/06 season he also played twelve games for the Victoria Salmon Kings from the ECHL . In the summer of 2006 he finally made the jump to the ECHL and signed there with the Idaho Steelheads , where he stayed for two years.

Before the 2008/09 season he signed a contract with the Tilburg Trappers from the Dutch first division . In the 2008/09 season Desmet was the top scorer in the Dutch championship. In 2009 he signed a contract with the Italian first division club HC Pustertal . Together with Rob Sirianni and Max Oberrauch he formed one of the best attack rows in the A1 series, which scored many goals. In summer 2010 he extended his contract in Bruneck . In July 2011 he moved to league rivals HC Valpellice together with his congenial striker Rob Sirianni . For the 2012/13 season Desmet was signed by the Italian second division club HC Meran Junior .

After a brief engagement at Rapid City Rush with play in the Central Hockey League , the Canadian returned to Merano for the 2013/14 season. He let his career end with the Bentley Generals in the Chinook Hockey League .
