Robert "Rob" Sirianni (born October 31, 1983 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a former Italian - Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Pustertal in the Elite.A .

Career

Rob Sirianni began his career as a hockey player in 2000 with the Bonnyville Pontiacs from the Alberta Junior Hockey League , where he played for two years. From 2003 to 2007 he attended Bemidji State University , which provided a team in the NCAA .

In 2007 he came to a use in the Syracuse Crunch from the American Hockey League and six playoff games with their farm team, the Youngstown Steelhounds . In the 2007/08 season he made the leap to the ECHL , where he signed a contract with the Utah Grizzlies . In the following season he moved to league rivals Wheeling Nailers . In the same season he came to some assignments with the farm team Binghamton Senators (AHL). In the middle of the 2008/09 season he moved to the Philadelphia Phantoms from the AHL, where he came to 49 missions and scored 25 points scorer (13 assists and 12 goals).

In the summer of 2009 he moved to HC Pustertal from the Italian A1 series . In the following season he scored 81 points (35 assists and 46 goals) and was thus the top scorer of the league. In the summer of 2010, his contract was extended by one year and Sirianni became Italian runner-up in 2011 with the Pustertalers after a final defeat against Asiago Hockey . In July 2011 he moved to league rivals HC Valpellice together with his congenial strike partner Taggart Desmet . With the team from Piedmont, he reached the play-off final in 2013 , which was lost again to Asiago Hockey.

International

For Italy Sirianni took part in the 2012 World Cup, but could not avoid relegation from the top division. In the following year , however, he and his team managed to return to the House of Lords immediately. In February 2013 he was also on the ice for Italy in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi in 2014. Italy could not qualify for the Winter Games, but Sirianni made a decisive contribution to the fact that the Austrians could go to Sochi instead of the Germans with his 1-0 lead in the 2-1 win after extra time against Germany .
