Taiji Nishitani ( Japanese 西 谷 泰 治 , Nishitani Taiji ; born February 1, 1981 ) is a former Japanese cyclist .

Taiji Nishitani won two stages in the Hokkaido Tour in 2003 . At the Tour of South China Sea 2005 he was once stage second and once third. In the overall standings, he finished fourth. He has been driving for the Aisan Racing Team since 2006 . That year he won a stage in the Hokkaido Tour and was once stage runner-up. So he was able to win the overall ranking of the tour. At the Asian Games in Doha , Nishitani won the silver medal in the single pursuit on the track.

In 2009, Nishitani became the Japanese road racing champion . In 2012 he won the bronze medal in road racing at the Asian Cycling Championships in Kuala Lumpur .

He ended his career at the end of the 2014 season.
