Takashi Yorino ( Japanese 従 野 孝 司 , Yorino Takashi ; born October 10, 1950 in Hyōgo Prefecture ) is a former Japanese racing driver and the half-brother of Yoshimi Katayama .

Career

Takashi Yorino was active as a sports car racing driver for more than 20 years and contested more than 150 races during this time. The driver trio Yorino, Yōjirō Terada and the former motorcycle racer and half-brother Yoshimi Katayama (Yorino and Katayama have the same mother, but different fathers; hence the difference in last names) were a well-known partnership in the Japanese sports car scene. Yorino very often competed in long distance races with either one or the other partner or with both. The three drivers, all of whom had long-term works contracts with Mazda  , were close friends off the racetrack.

He won his first sports car race in 1975 when he and Katayama won the Suzuka 500 km race. Yorino drove almost all of the Mazda prototypes; from the 717C from 1983 to the MXR-01 1992.

Inevitably, the Japanese competed many times in the 24-hour race of Le Mans , where he achieved the best position in the overall standings in 1991 with eighth place; For once, not just with Japanese teammates, but with Belgian Pierre Dieudonné as another partner. Yorino's last race was the 1995 Suzuka 1000km race that he couldn't finish.
