Take the Crown was an American post-hardcore / electronic rock band from Huntington Beach , California that existed from 2004 to 2008.

history

Take the Crown was founded in 2004 by singer Beau Bokan and guitarist Tony Gonzalez in Huntington Beach , California . In the first few months it was difficult for the musicians to find a permanent line-up before a constant line-up could be found with guitarist Nick Coffey, bassist James Campbell, keyboardist Ryan Wilson and drummer Aaron Birdswall. After the group released an EP named after the band with Take the Crown in 2006, the EP Let the Games Begin , which was produced by Saosin musician Chris Sorenson, was released in the same year .

Drummer Birdswall left the group in 2006 and was replaced by Trevor Bodewitz, who supported the band in their appearances with AFI and the Los Angeles concert of the Taste of Chaos festival tour. Take the Crown made two concert tours in the UK with The Blackout and Eighteen Visions ; as well as North American tours with Lostprophets and Four Year Strong . Juan Pereda replaced Trevor Bodewitz, who was replaced shortly afterwards by Aaron Elliott on drums.

In October 2007, Take the Crown signed a recording contract with the US independent label Rise Records . Together with producer Kris Crummett , the musicians worked on their debut album Relapse React , which was released in May 2008. Shortly after the album was recorded, founding member Tony Gonzalez decided to leave the band due to personal problems. Former Eighteen Visions musician Ken Floyd took his place in the band. Only a few months after the release of the debut album, the musicians decided to break up the band. The reasons given for this step were the departures of Campbell and Gonzalez, poor management and the financial burden on the band members. The group completed their farewell tour as a support band for Emarosa .

music

Take the Crown played a mixture of post-hardcore and electronic rock . The musicians themselves described the music as a mixture of rock music , afrobeat and freestyle.
