Talinolol is a mixture of two isomeric chemical compounds from the group of urea - derivatives that as beta-blocker acts and medically as antihypertensive drugs ( antihypertensive agent is used).

Stereochemistry

Talinolol contains a stereocenter and consists of two enantiomers. This is a racemate , i.e. a 1: 1 mixture of ( R ) - and ( S ) -form:

Talinolol acts as an antagonist on the β1 adrenoceptors .

The substance is effective in treating high blood pressure .

The side effects include:

central nervous disorders such as tiredness , dizziness , sweating , headaches and sleep disorders
Bradycardia
Gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea , vomiting , constipation or diarrhea
Vasodilation of the extremities (effect on β2 receptors)
Increase in airway resistance (effect on β2 receptors)
