Talinolol is a mixture of two isomeric chemical compounds from the group of urea - derivatives that as beta-blocker acts and medically as antihypertensive drugs ( antihypertensive agent is used).
Stereochemistry
Talinolol contains a stereocenter and consists of two enantiomers. This is a racemate , i.e. a 1: 1 mixture of ( R ) - and ( S ) -form:

Clinical information
Mode of action
Talinolol acts as an antagonist on the β1 adrenoceptors .
Indications
The substance is effective in treating high blood pressure .
Side effects
The side effects include:
- central nervous disorders such as tiredness , dizziness , sweating , headaches and sleep disorders
- Bradycardia
- Gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea , vomiting , constipation or diarrhea
- Vasodilation of the extremities (effect on β2 receptors)
- Increase in airway resistance (effect on β2 receptors)

Contraindications are:
- Bradycardia
- Sinus node syndrome
- severe arterial hypotension
- Diabetes mellitus
- Prinzmetal's angina
- severe heart failure
- upcoming birth
