Tamás Mocsai [ ˈtɒmaːʃ ˈmotʃɒ.i ] (born December 9, 1978 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian handball player . He is the son of handball trainer Lajos Mocsai . In October 2014 he was elected mayor of Felsőmocsolád municipality .

In his youth, Tamás Mocsai first played for TBV Lemgo , where his father was coaching the Bundesliga team at the time . He later played at GWD Minden and from 1997 at TuS Nettelstedt , where he was already part of the Bundesliga squad. In the 1998/99 season, the 1.96 meter tall back player ran for the second division TV Jahn Duderstadt , then he moved to the Hungarian club Dunaferr SE , with which he won the championship in 2000 and the cup a year later. From 2002 to 2005 he played in Switzerland for TV Suhr and Pfadi Winterthur . He then returned to Germany and joined the newly promoted Bundesliga club SG Kronau / Östringen . With Östringen he moved into the final of the DHB Cup 2005/06 , where they lost to HSV Hamburg with 25:26. From 2006 he played again at TBV Lemgo, with whom he became EHF Cup winner in 2010 . Then Mocsai moved to SG Flensburg-Handewitt . With the SG he won the European Cup Winners' Cup last played in 2012 , after reaching the final in 2000 and the semi-finals of this competition in 2002. In summer 2012 he moved to league rivals TSV Hannover-Burgdorf . In December 2013, Mocsai's contract with TSV was prematurely terminated at his request and he moved to the Hungarian club KC Veszprém , with which he won the championship and cup in 2014. At the end of the 2014/15 season he ended his handball career.

For the Hungarian national handball team , Mocsai played 179 international matches in which he scored 423 goals. At the 2007 Handball World Cup in Germany, he scored 18 goals in eight games. With Hungary, he participated in the Olympics in 2004 in Athens and 2012 in London in part, where the team each finished fourth.
