Tanker is a German TV film from 1970 directed by Volker Vogeler . Günter Herburger wrote the script . The main roles are cast with Katrin Schaake , Hans-Michael Rehberg , Karl-Georg Saebisch and Ivan Desny . The film premiered on October 7, 1954 in the ARD program . The television game deals with the relationship between people and money in the capitalist economic system, true to the motto "Money comes to those who already have money".

Helga, the secretary of a finance broker and married to a university assistant in economics , believes she can do the same as her boss. She uses her knowledge of the offer of four tankers to her boss Offenbach and wants to broker this deal independently. Her husband supports her by providing theoretical support for the attempt and calculating the chances that a have-not in the capitalist sense could have to use his intelligence and his performance to break into the large barter trade.
Helga takes advantage of a previous private connection with a Swiss banker who has wealthy customers behind him. Offenbach lets his secretary do it. She brings the person negotiating for the seller, her boss and the banker from Switzerland together for a meeting and believes that this service gives her a right to share in the broker's profit. But the three gentlemen quickly make it clear to her that she has no chance of this. To be profitable, the outdated tankers have to be rebuilt. The brokers have to pay for this financially, but they also become co-owners of the tankers. She has no money for it and therefore no creditworthiness and thus remains out of business. Your efforts to bring the gentlemen together don't count. The attempt to participate in the system of capitalism as a small, capitalless person has failed.
