The Tata Winger is a minibus that Tata Motors launched in India in 2007. It is based on the 1st generation of the Renault Trafic . The curb weight is given as 1620 kg.
idea
In June 2007, Tata Motors brought out the Winger together with the passenger transport variant of the Ace , the Magic, on a new platform. According to Tata Motors Vice President of Sales and Marketing Shyam Mani , the Winger is set to "change the way Indians travel". The two models Magic and Winger are intended to serve the segment of light passenger transport vehicles.
The car offers between nine and thirteen seats, has as much space for passengers as a limousine, plenty of head and legroom and plenty of space for luggage. Passenger comfort is also ensured by the fact that all seats are facing the direction of travel and - depending on the version - are equipped with magazine pouches, bottle holders, card reading lights, grab handles and music systems.
variants
The winger is available in six variants and two seating configurations. The top model with a flat roof is a ten-seater; the other five versions are available with either 13 or 14 seats, which results in a total of 11 variants.
The closed, internally lined body, a diesel tank placed outside the impact area, seat belts for each seat, child safety locks on the doors, fog lights and a separate fan for the passenger compartment ensure a high level of safety and good passenger comfort.
The winger is offered by a modified version of the 1.95 liter R4 diesel engine from the current Sumo . The 1,948 cm³ unit has a turbocharger and a charge air cooler in all variants with the exception of the shorter basic model Winger Van. The naturally aspirated engine in this variant develops 68 bhp (50 kW) compared to 91 bhp (67 kW) with the supercharged engine.
Transmission and chassis
The Winger has front-wheel drive and, with the exception of the basic version with a naturally aspirated engine, meets the Bharat Stage II emissions standard. (The basic version meets Bharat Stage III). The wheel suspension ensures driving comfort and a high payload and the self-supporting structure reduces noise and vibrations.
Target groups
The two Tata models Magic and Winger are intended to cover the entire light passenger transport sector.
The Winger, which has improved handling and seating comfort, is intended for transporting employees to and from work, tourists to hotels and in the city, as well as from and to the airport, etc.
The Magic is intended for cheaper passenger transport in the city and between the villages and will, especially in the countryside, conquer its own market niche, said Madhu P. Singh , the product manager, who played a decisive role in the presentation of the two cars would have.
Both the Magic and the Winger shipped nationwide, starting with Maharashtra and Gujarat . Gradually will be available across the country. The selling price is from Rp 470,000 for the basic version.
