Tatiana Ivanovna Makarova

Tatiana Ivanovna Makarova ( Russian Татьяна Ивановна Макарова ; * May 14, 1930 in Moscow ; † October 6, 2009 there ) was a Soviet - Russian mediaevalist .

Life

Makarowa's parents were the historian IS Makarow and the art scholar WA Sidorova. Makarowa studied at the University of Moscow (MGU) in the historical faculty (IstFak) with a degree in 1954 with Boris Alexandrowitsch Rybakow . Since 1952 she took part in archaeological expeditions. After completing her studies, she first worked in the special restoration workshop administration for architectural matters . She directed the excavations in Moscow's Vysoko Petrovsky Monastery .

In 1955 Makarova became an employee of the Moscow Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR) , in which she rose from laboratory assistant to leading research assistant. Her main research interests were the culture and arts and crafts of the Kievan Rus and the Moscow Rus . She was one of the first to take an interdisciplinary approach, drawing up the chronology , identifying the jewelry-making workshops and cataloging the objects. She took part in the excavation in Kerch in the 1963-1964 excavation season. In 1966 she successfully defended her dissertation on the glazed ceramics of ancient Russia for her doctorate as a candidate in historical sciences.

Makarowa led the further excavations in Kerch 1970–1971, 1976 and 1980. She took part in archaeological expeditions in the Crimea , Taman , Ukraine and Hungary . In 1988 she successfully defended her doctoral thesis on Email and Niello in ancient Russia for a doctorate in historical sciences.

Makarova retired in 2007.

Makarova was buried in Moscow's Vvedenskoye Cemetery.
