Thaw (association)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tauwetter is a self-help project by men and for men who were exposed to sexual violence as boys . Support the focal point of the project is a non-profit recognized registered association based in Berlin . Through networking with other projects, participation in various federal committees, public relations, advanced training, telephone advice and an Internet presence with address and literature lists, the association is also effective outside of Berlin.

history

In early 1995, a self-help group established the thawing point in Mehringhof in Berlin-Kreuzberg . The association Tauwetter, united against sexual violence eV was founded in April 1999. Right from the start, the principle of help by those affected for those affected has been consistently adhered to; The affected-controlled approach was developed together with other projects. Tauwetter sees itself as partisan in favor of victims of sexual violence; Work with perpetrators is deliberately not offered.

Thaw was one of the few contact points that offered support for affected men as early as the mid-1990s, and is still one of the few offers for men who were exposed to sexual violence in their childhood.

Since the beginning of 2013, the work of the contact point has been supported by the Berlin Senate. The necessary personal contribution is ensured through additional offers (see below).

Tauwetter is a member of the German Society for Prevention and Intervention in Child Abuse and Neglect and works with other self-help projects and advice centers ( white water , dark chocolate , etc.) and the Independent Commissioner for Questions of Child Sexual Abuse (UBSKM); Tauwetter is also actively represented in the Berlin networking committees.

deals

In the contact point there is an advice and a self-help area, which is run by the non-profit association Tauwetter.

In the counseling area, people who are affected (the association addresses "men *", with the asterisk stands for the self-designation of other genders, see intersexuality ) and also for supportive persons, couples and professionally confronted with the topic of counseling in personal, telephone or written form offered.

In the self-help area, groups are offered in particular - in their initial phase accompanied by men who are experienced in self-help.

In addition, Tauwetter offers case supervision, training, lectures, workshops, media advice and various contributions to the prevention of sexualised violence. Tauwetter is active nationwide with training courses, lectures and workshops.

With an extensive list of other offers of help on its homepage, Tauwetter takes on a nationwide networking function for men seeking help.

aims

The aim of Tauwetter is to support "men *" who were affected by sexual violence in their childhood or youth on their way to a more self-determined life.

Further goals are the prevention of sexualised violence and promoting the topic of sexualised violence in public.

Commitment as a victim for those affected

In cooperation with Wildwasser, the first nationwide congress of victims of sexual violence was organized in September 2010 under the title "From our point of view". Over 100 people affected from all over Germany have drawn up a list of demands. This was presented to the media at a press conference and by a representative from Whitewater and a representative from Thaw at the round table .

In 2011, Tauwetter and Wildwasser organized a "Block of the Faceless" of those affected by sexual violence at the demonstration on the occasion of the Pope's visit to Berlin. 500 participants, many of them with white masks in front of their faces, shouted to the Pope "Non gradimus vos" - we will not forgive you.

Participation in the round table and at UBSKM

Tauwetter has been active at the federal political level since 2010 and brings "their analysis, their publications, their critical and constructive interjections and their creative approaches" to federal bodies.

In 2010, Tauwetter was active at the Round Table on Sexual Abuse of Children in the sub-working group "Advisory network in which those affected by sexual violence and their relatives receive competent advice, support and accompaniment" and contributed content-related amounts and statements to Working Group I "Prevention - Intervention - Information" involved under the direction of Minister Kristina Schröder.

At the same time, Tauwetter worked on the scientific advisory board of the telephone contact point of the independent commissioner Christine Bergmann .

Since 2014, Tauwetter has been on the advisory board of the current independent commissioner for issues relating to child sexual abuse, Johannes-Wilhelm Rörig , where he works in the research concept group.

Tauwetter is a member of the Bund-Länder-AG for the monitoring of the Federal Government's 2011 Action Plan to protect children and young people from sexual violence and exploitation.
