Taylorsville is a city and administrative seat of Christian County in the center of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2000 Taylorville had 11,427 residents; by the 2009 estimate, the population had risen to 12,142.

The city is the birthplace of Edward Mills Purcell , a physicist and discoverer of the resonance absorption phenomena of nuclear magnetism.
