Technology Student Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Technology Student Association is an American student organization with over 250,000 members, which promotes the technical education of students and their teachers ("Advisor").

structure

In addition to the 49 participating American states, there are a few other associations - national organizations and chapters - outside the USA, including in Germany, Scotland, Peru and Turkey. The chapters from Germany were the only non-American chapters to actively participate in the National Conferences until 2012. A team from Turkey ( İstanbul Lisesi ) has also been participating since 2012 . Most of the student organization's members are from Oklahoma , North Carolina , Mississippi , Virginia , Tennessee , and Florida . Participants qualify for the national competition through competitions at regional and state level. Once a year, the best students from every state take part and have to prove their skills. The competitions organized by TSA are comparable to the German youth competition Jugend forscht .

Germany

The first and now only German chapter is located at the Wilhelm-Ostwald-Gymnasium in Leipzig . Since 2001, this German branch has sent a delegation to the USA every year to take part in the annual National Conference. The second German chapter had existed at the state grammar school for gifted students in Schwäbisch Gmünd since 2005 . In 2011, the third offshoot was founded at the Schloss Hansenberg boarding school. Both chapters were closed again a few years later.

motto

The Technology Student Association has a motto on which the majority of the projects are based: "Learning to lead in a technical world" .
