The Tegernseer Hütte is an alpine hut of the German Alpine Association in the area of ​​the municipality of Kreuth .

location

It is located at 1650  m altitude in the Bavarian Prealps on the saddle between the peaks of Roßstein and Buchstein with an unobstructed view of the valley, and 140 meters from the western border of the community of Kreuth to the neighboring community of Lenggries . Because of its exposed location, the site is often referred to as an eagle's nest . It has 40 beds and is the starting point for numerous hiking routes and climbing tours .

history

In the fall of 1903 a hut with a small lounge and a bedroom with 8 beds was built; it was officially opened on August 14, 1904. In 1913 a hut (45 square meters: lounge, kitchen and two bedrooms) with a water treatment system was built. An extension with a cellar was built in 1938 and expanded until 1938. The supply of the hut was made easier in 1951 by the purchase of a Mulis } and in 1958 by the construction of a material ropeway.

On May 10, 1965, the hut burned down after being struck by lightning; A new building was inaugurated on August 27, 1967. In the 1980s and 1990s, the hut received solar panels , a photovoltaic system , a drinking water filter system, a radio telephone and later a telephone system. In 2001 a terrace was added on the west side. In 2005 and 2006 the hut was completely renovated and expanded.

In August 2019, the hut's overnight area was closed for fire protection reasons. By November 2019, the DAV and the Kreuth community developed a concept for converting the warehouse. Accordingly, the top floor is to be expanded by around 50 m², and two balconies and two outside stairs are to be added. A reopening of the sleeping places is planned for spring 2020.

Approaches and tours

The Tegernseer Hütte can be reached from the Klamm car park ( 850  m ) between Kreuth and Achenpass on the B 307 via the Buchsteinhütte ( 1260  m ). Other routes are the ascent from Fleck ( 800  m ) or the steeper ascent from Bayerwald via the Sonnbergalm.

The two peaks Roßstein ( 1698  m ) and Buchstein ( 1701  m ) are right next to the Tegernseer Hütte . In their area there are over 90 climbing tours between III + and IX + difficulty level .
