The Tegerstein was a small island in Lake Constance near the shore between Wasserburg am Bodensee and Lindau , in the Hoyren district , formerly an independent municipality that was incorporated into Lindau on Lake Constance in 1922 . The island is marked on the map of Switzerland from 1817 , but not in the Bavarian first recording or on the original position sheet. The Bavarian premiere shows only a field name Degelstein on the mainland of the corresponding bank section, and today the district of Lindau of the same name. The former estate of Tegerstein is the Degelstein castle ruins .

The historical island of Tegerstein is documented in several historical reference works.

Tegerstein and Degelstein are just different name variants for the same property, be it an island, corridor, village or castle. The spelling Tegelstein is less common .

Judging by the map, the island was a good 50 meters from the shore and was 50 by 40 meters in size.

In the old Bavarian monthly from 1899, however, there is no talk of an island, but of an erratic block .
