The love island is a small uninhabited island in Lake Constance .

geography

The love island is located in the Zeller See , part of the Untersee that belongs to Lake Constance . It is the peninsula Mettnau upstream about 200 meters south. The island belongs to the Mettnau peninsula nature reserve on the outskirts of the city of Radolfzell on Lake Constance .

Its area, previously estimated at 2100 to 2200 m², was precisely determined on January 16, 2012 during a new measurement by the land surveying office of the Constance district office. According to this, the love island has an area of ​​2620 m² with a length of 97 meters and a width between 15 and 42 meters.

The island of love was measured for the first time during the primary cadastral survey of the region from 1867 to 1871. At that time it was simplified as an irregular square and had an area of ​​2 acres and 150 rods , which is more than double the area measured in 2012.

The island was the location for the home film Die Fischerin vom Bodensee from 1956, directed by Harald Reinl . The love night of the main characters Hans ( Gerhard Riedmann ) and Maria ( Marianne Hold ) was filmed on the island .
