The Teigitsch is a 42 kilometer long right tributary of the Kainach in the Voitsberg district in Styria . It rises near the border with Carinthia and flows south of Voitsberg into the Kainach.

course

The Teigitsch rises in the municipality of Hirschegg-Pack , near the border with Carinthia on the eastern slopes of the Peterer Riegel and the St. Leonharder Alm , both of which belong to the mountain area of the Pack and Stubalpe . From there it flows in a south-easterly and easterly direction until it flows into the Kainach in the local area of Krottendorf-Gaisfeld , near Packer Strasse . In its middle course, the river flows through a gorge .

In its course, the Teigitsch flows through two reservoirs ( Hirzmann and Langmann reservoirs ) and operates four power plants: the St. Martin , Arnstein and Teigitschmühle power plants of Verbund AG ( Teigitsch Group ) and the Edelschrott power plant of Stadtwerke Köflach, which was built in 1910 .

flora

Along the Teigitsch there is evidence of various types of moss such as Hookeria lucens and Odontoschisma denudatum . Even lichens as the Brown Köpfchenflechte ( Baeomyces rufus ) Gyalecta derivata , Micarea botryoides , Mycomicrothelia confusa and Pertusaria aspergilla occur in Teigitschgraben.

reception

Teigitsch is mentioned in two folk music waltzes, the Teigitschgraben waltz and the s'Diandl von Teigitsch . Furthermore, a film was made in 2012 with the title Die Teigitsch over the river.
