Location of Tempelberg in Brandenburg

Listed houses in Lindenstrasse

Tempelberg is a district of the Steinhöfel community in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg .

history

Tempelberg was first mentioned in a document around 1244. The place was probably founded by Knights Templar of the Lietzen Commandery , who, when setting up their bases, made sure that they could be reached within a day's journey of about 40 miles. This corresponds to the distance to the Tempelhof , also founded by the Knights Templar , which is now a district of Berlin .

A small park and two preserved cavalier houses testify to the time when the Prussian statesman Karl August von Hardenberg developed some of his ideas for the Prussian reforms in the Tempelberg Castle, which was demolished in 1945 as part of the land reform .

The Kohlhaasweg in Temple Mount reminiscent of Hans Kohlhase , who was born here in 1500 and as a rebel against arbitrariness of the authorities in the novella Michael Kohlhaas by Heinrich von Kleist , a literary monument was set.
