history
Ten Airways was founded in 2009 and became the national airline of Guinea Bissau in 2014 , as TAP Portugal closed its connections to Lisbon in December 2013. Ten Airways was then awarded the landing rights by the Guinea authorities and maintained the country's direct flight connection to Europe.
From May 15, 2014 one had a subsidiary with Fly Romania ; using McDonnell Douglas MD-82 and MD-83 from Ten Airways, the latter offered not only flights within Romania but also connections to Italy, Spain, Germany and Turkey. In August of the same year, Ten Air's subsidiary suspended operations due to lack of demand, only to file for bankruptcy a month later.
In March 2015, Ten Airways filed for bankruptcy itself . The largest creditors were the company's employees because of the outstanding wages, while the owner Ovidiu Tender was sentenced to 11 years and 4 months in prison for money laundering .
