Blue Air , registered as SC Blue Air - Airline Management Solutions SRL , is a Romanian airline based in Bucharest and based at the Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport .
history
Blue Air was founded with the aim of lowering the ticket prices that were still high in Romania at that time and expanding the comparatively weak network of connections to other major European cities. The aim of the company is - according to its own statements - to offer professional service at affordable prices as an alternative to the existing road and rail transport routes. Most of the flight crew comes from the Romanian airline TAROM . Blue Air operates both scheduled and charter flights and rents some of its aircraft, including crew, to other airlines.
In January 2013, Blue Air canceled an order for five Boeing 737s for economic reasons .
In September 2018, Blue Air, together with two other investors, took over the state-owned Air Moldova from the Republic of Moldova .
On July 6, 2020, Blue Air filed for bankruptcy under self-administration.
Destinations
Blue Air serves domestic routes in Romania and Italy as well as international routes from Romania to various European countries. It also operates flight connections between some European countries, especially between Cyprus and Greece. In German-speaking countries, the company is represented at Munich , Hamburg , Cologne and Stuttgart airports .

Blue Air has codeshare agreements with Air Moldova , Alitalia , Blue Panorama Airlines and Georgian Airways .
