The Río Tera is a 140 km long left tributary of the Río Esla in the Spanish province of Zamora .
course
The source of the Río Tera is in the mountains of the Sierra de Vigo , a sub- mountain range of the Montes de León in the extreme northwest of the province of Zamora in the area of the municipality of Porto de Sanabria . At first it flows in a southerly direction; then his path leads through the Lago de Sanabria , the largest glacial lake in Spain, and then for a long time to the east, where it is dammed several times. South of the village of Vega de Tera , it divides into two arms, which reunite about 25 kilometers later (north of Burganes de Valverde ). Shortly before its confluence with the Río Esla near Bretocino , the river makes a bend to the south.
