Teresa Bulgarini Prize

The Teresa Bulgarini Prize for Contemporary Art is awarded to the Viennese gallery owner Teresa Hohenlohe , born in 2007 . Bulgarini, recently dedicated to married rope makers.

The initiator and main sponsor of the art award , which has been awarded annually since 2008, is the Salzburg gallery owner Nikolaus Ruzicska . Further sponsors are the parents of the deceased, Alceo and Maya Bulgarini d'Elci, as well as a personality who wants to remain anonymous.

The award for artists from German-speaking countries up to the age of 49 is associated with prize money of 15,000 euros - making the award one of the most highly endowed in Austria . In addition, the award winner will receive a sculpture designed in 2008 by British object artist Gary Webb . Since 2009 it has been designed by the Austrian artist Manfred Erjautz .

  • 2008 The Tyrolean artist Carola Dertnig , who "has created a comprehensive oeuvre from drawing, painting, sculpture, installation and video to performance in over 20 years", according to the jury.
  • 2009 Christiane Baumgartner from Leipzig for her woodcuts, which thematize terms such as time, movement, speed and acceleration. "Your objects are power machines," said the jury.
  • 2010 Michael Sailstorfer , who comes from Velden / Vils in Bavaria, expands contemporary sculpture to include the elements of sound, smell, light and performance, thereby exploring the limits of the traditional concept of sculpture with playful ease.
