AGCO ( A llis- G leaner Co rporation ) is a global manufacturer of agricultural machinery, headquartered in Duluth (Georgia) , USA . Due to its global presence, the agricultural machinery manufacturer offers a variety of products, which are sold by more than 2,700 dealers in over 140 countries. The European headquarters of AGCO has been located in Neuhausen , SH since August 2007 .
history
The company was founded in 1990 when senior executives at Deutz-Allis acquired the North American activities of Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz with the Deutz-Fahr agricultural machinery brand ( management buy-out ). It was then renamed Allis-Gleaner Corporation , or AGCO for short. Gleaner became the brand for combine harvesters , while the line of tractors is called AGCO Tractors.
Acquisitions
In the following years numerous companies and activities were acquired:
- 1991 Hesston Corporation , a manufacturer of harvesting machinery, which in turn 50% of Case International was involved
- 1991 White Tractor product line from White-New Idea , a subsidiary of Allied Corporation
- 1993 Massey Ferguson North America, distribution rights
- 1993 White-New Idea , rest
- 1994 Black Machine , seed drill line
- 1994 McConnell Tractors , manufacturer of the articulated tractors from Massey Ferguson, was sold until 2001 under the brand name AGCOSTAR
- 1995 Massey-Ferguson , worldwide distribution rights except South America
- 1996 Deutz Argentina
- 1996 Takeover of the agricultural machinery division of Iochpe-Maxion , licensee and brand owner of Massey Ferguson for South America
- In 1996, AGCO acquired Linamar 's shares in Portage Manufacturing and Western Combine Corporation in Canada, which manufactured combines for Massey Ferguson
- 1997 Dronningborg Industries in Denmark, manufacturer of Massey-Ferguson combine harvesters
- 1997 Fendt in Germany (Marktoberdorf)
- 1998 Joint venture with Deutz AG for the production of engines in Argentina

- In 2011, AGCO acquired a 10% stake in the Finnish combine harvester and forest machine manufacturer Sampo Rosenlew and GSI Holding Corp. (Grain Storage)

AGCO is the world's third largest manufacturer of agricultural machinery. On the Fortune 500 list of the largest US companies for 2004, AGCO took 476th place, rose to 296th place in 2014 to its highest place before, with 360th place in 2016, the lowest place since 2007 has been. Revenues fell 23.2% in 2015 to $ 7.467 billion. Profits even shrunk 35.1% to $ 266 million over the same period.
