Terrence Alexander Jones (born January 9, 1992 in Portland , Oregon ) is an American basketball player who is currently without a club ( free agent ). Most recently he was under contract with TNT KaTropa in the Philippine Basketball Association .

Jones' cousins Damon Stoudamire and Salim Stoudamire also played in the NBA.

career

college

Jones played for the renowned University of Kentucky under John Calipari . In his freshman year he reached the Final Four of the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship with the Wildcats, alongside Brandon Knight . Jones was named SEC Rookie of the Year and although he was considered a great talent and initially announced a move to the NBA, he stayed in college for another year. The Wildcats had great talents in their ranks for the 2011/12 season with Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist . With these he won the NCAA championship in 2012 and shortly thereafter declared his participation in the NBA draft .

NBA

In the 2012 NBA Draft , Jones was selected 18th by the Houston Rockets . During his rookie season he was also posted for games for the Rockets farm team Rio Grande Valley Vipers , so that he only came to 19 missions for the Rockets and scored 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds.

In his sophomore year, Jones moved up to the Rockets' starting line-up as a nominal power forward . On January 14, 2014 Jones set a career record with 36 points in the Rockets' 114: 104 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks . He was the youngest rocket player after Hakeem Olajuwon to get more than 30 points. In his third year, Jones completed only 33 games due to an inflammation of the nerves in his left leg, scoring 11.7 points on average. After another year of injuries with the Rockets, Jones moved to the New Orleans Pelicans in the summer of 2016 . He was released in mid-February in favor of DeMarcus cousins .
