Tessa Davies

Tessa Davies (* 1940 - June 1, 1988 in Frogmill Spinney , England ) was a British production designer .

Life

Davies began her career as an actress in the early 1960s , but only had three small television engagements. She started on the film staff in 1972 as assistant to the art director on the British thriller Amok . She has often appeared in horror films , including The Omen , The Shining, and The Little Shop of Horror .

In 1984 she was nominated for Barbra Streisands Yentl together with Roy Walker and Leslie Tomkins for an Oscar in the category Best Production Design , but that year the award went to the film drama Fanny and Alexander . Davies rarely worked for television, with the exception of her involvement in the television film Love in the Twilight, starring Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier . For this she won a Primetime Emmy in 1975 .

The last film she participated in was the adventure film Old Gringo, starring Jane Fonda and Gregory Peck . In 1988 she was found dead by police in the house of her partner Richard Furgerson near London .
