Leslie Tomkins

Leslie Tomkins (* 1948 in Hammersmith , London ) is a British production designer and art director .

Life

Tomkins began his career in film crew in 1970 as undisclosed uncredited technical draftsman in the actual so-wrong - Comedy Love, love, etc. In 1980 he worked on Stanley Kubrick Stephen King - filming Shining first time as an art director. In the course of his career he worked for Kubrick two more times; 1987 to Full Metal Jacket and 1999 to Eyes Wide Shut . He has also worked for directors such as David Lean , Ridley Scott , Tim Burton , William Friedkin , Wolfgang Petersen and Michael Mann .

In 1984 he was nominated for Barbra Streisands Yentl together with Roy Walker and Tessa Davies for the Oscar in the category Best Production Design , but that year the award went to Fanny and Alexander . Between 2000 and 2017 Tomkins was nominated four times for the Excellence in Production Design Award of the Art Directors Guild , for the horror film Sleepy Hollow he won the award. He also received the Satellite Award for Best Production Design for Sleepy Hollow .
